Enjoy Some Fresh Crab for National Crab Meat Day
Crab meat is delightfully delicious. If you’re in need of an excuse to incorporate crab into your meals, take National Crab Meat Day as your opportunity. This holiday is celebrated annually on March 9.
Did you know crab meat is one of the most consumed seafood in the world? Approximately 1.5 million tons of crab are consumed every year all across the globe. However, not all species of crabs are edible. There are thousands of species of crabs living in our bodies of water, but only blue crab, stone crab, Dungeness, king crab, rock crab, and snow crab are consumable by humans. Some of these species have hard shells, while others have soft shells. The texture of the shell affects the way the seafood can be prepared and served.
Crab meat can be prepared in several ways. You can boil the whole creature or just the legs and you can steam the meat. You can eat crab on its own with some butter or you can use crab meat to make soups, cakes, dips, and so on.
This March 9, celebrate National Crab Meat Day with PJ Lobster House. We have a variety of crab meat dishes you can order to observe this enjoyable holiday. Try our snow crab legs served with drawn butter, our broken snow crab legs, our Alaskan king crab legs, our king crab knuckles, and claws, or our crab cakes.
We also serve a crab cake salad made with homemade shredded crab cakes and served over a classic house garden salad with your choice of honey mustard, creamy caesar, ranch, balsamic vinaigrette, Thousand Island, bleu cheese, or golden Italian dressing.
Another great way to celebrate National Crab Meat Day is with our crab cake sandwich. This dish is made with our house-made crab cakes and prepared with shredded crab meat, lettuce, tomato, and remoulade sauce served on a French club roll. You can also get some fresh crab from our fish market.
This March 9, head to PJ Lobster House. We are open from noon to 9 p.m. and you can find us at 134 Main Street in Port Jefferson, New York. We hope you will choose to celebrate this holiday with us!
